Xun Pang

About

I am a tenured full professor at Peking University's School of International Studies and director of the PKU Analytics Lab for Global Risk Politics. I serve on the editorial board of Political Analysis and as an associate editor of the Japanese Journal of Political Science.

My research spans global risk politics and governance, foreign policy decision-making, security and diplomacy of technologies and economies, and quantitative and generative methods for social science. My work has appeared in leading journals including Political Analysis, International Organization, Review of International Political Economy, Political Science Research & Methods, International Studies Quarterly, Social Sciences in China, and World Economy and Politics.

Before joining Peking University, I was a tenure-track assistant professor at Princeton University (2010–2012), and later an associate professor (2012–2014) and full professor with tenure at Tsinghua University (2014–2022). At Tsinghua, I served as vice dean of the Institute for International Relations (2016–2020) and co-director of the Carnegie–Tsinghua Center for Global Policy (2013–2016). I received my Ph.D. in Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis, M.A. in International Relations from Peking University, and B.A. in International Relations and Economics (double major) from Peking University.
